When did you first become aware of this uniquely talented actor? I saw him as Touchstone in As You Like It, an open air production in the gardens of Worcester College, Oxford University in the summer of 1977, when I was an undergraduate law student there and he was studying for his D.Phil in Engineering at the Queen's College, Oxford University. He shone. That summer he appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, was given a TV contract ("Not The Nine O'Clock News") and never returned to his studies.

Tue, March 15, 2005 - 2:00 PMBlack Adder WAS my first taste of Rowan! He is so talented! Saturday nights were becoming awfully drab in the programming lineup. One day we flipped over to PBS and there he was! I've never looked back. ;) -

Tue, March 15, 2005 - 11:43 PMRowan is actually filming where I live, on the Isle of Man, right now, in his new film with Patrick Swayze called "Keeping Mum". Something to look out for - nothing better than seeing him for the first time than seeing him again and again. -

Thu, March 17, 2005 - 10:53 AMI first saw Rowan on some comedy show doing a one man routine where he played the devil sorting people out as they arrived in hell.
One of the funniest lines I remember was "Christians, line up over there. Yes, the Jews were right." Or something like that. -

Tue, August 30, 2005 - 2:37 PMI first became aware of Rowan Atkinson on "Not the Nine O'Clock News" in 1979. This topically irreverent comedy show was like a breath of fresh air after the likes of "The Two Ronnies" etc. I loved it!
