First aware of Rowan Atkinson

When did you first become aware of this uniquely talented actor? I saw him as Touchstone in As You Like It, an open air production in the gardens of Worcester College, Oxford University in the summer of 1977, when I was an undergraduate law student there and he was studying for his D.Phil in Engineering at the Queen's College, Oxford University. He shone. That summer he appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, was given a TV contract ("Not The Nine O'Clock News") and never returned to his studies.

I first became aware of Rowan Atkinson on "Not the Nine O'Clock News" in 1979. This topically irreverent comedy show was like a breath of fresh air after the likes of "The Two Ronnies" etc. I loved it!
